Why use remarketing in your PPC campaigns?
Most visitors leave a website without buying. Remarketing brings them back. What it is, and five reasons to use it in your PPC campaigns.
What is remarketing?
Remarketing lets you reach people again after they visited your website or showed interest, but left without buying. It gives them another chance to become customers. If you want to turn visitors into repeat buyers, remarketing in your PPC (pay-per-click) campaigns is a good first step.
Most people who land on a website leave without buying. Some leave right away. Others read, browse products or services, and only then go. Many add items to the cart or even start checking out, then drop off. Everyone who didn’t convert (place an order, request a quote, send an email) can be brought back with a message that fits what they did on your site.
In practice, it works in five steps: someone visits your site, browses, gets added to a remarketing list (through the Google or Meta tag), leaves, and later sees your ads on other sites, in apps, or on social media.
Five benefits of remarketing campaigns
-
You win back lost visitors. This is the biggest advantage. Remarketing ads remind people of the products or services they looked at and nudge them to come back and finish what they started.
-
You can tailor the message. You can adapt the ad to what the person did on your site. Ads and offers that fit them get more attention and raise the odds of an order.
-
Your brand stays top of mind. Repeated exposure to people who have already visited makes your brand more familiar, and a familiar brand is harder to forget when someone compares you with competitors.
-
Your budget works harder. It makes sense to put part of your PPC budget into remarketing. People who have already shown interest buy more easily, so the money goes further.
-
You can segment your audience. You can build separate lists based on on-site behavior and send each group the message that fits its needs.
One thing to know: in the European Union (and the UK), only visitors who accepted marketing cookies are added to remarketing lists. That’s why your lists are smaller than the traffic you see in Google Analytics, and why a well-built consent banner matters for remarketing too.
In short
A healthy marketing mix includes remarketing. The right setup depends on several things: your industry, your marketing goals, the type of products or services you sell, and how your audience behaves.
For most businesses, remarketing is one of the most cost-effective parts of a PPC account: you talk to people who already know you, on a small budget compared with campaigns that bring in new visitors.
